237th Meeting of UET Academic Council

Approval Granted for New Academic Programs and Establishment of Center of Excellence

 

The 237th meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir. The meeting was attended by the Deans of all faculties, The Registrar, and academic and administrative Heads of various departments.

The council approved the launch of several new academic programs and introduced key recommendations for the Admission Policy 2026, aimed at expanding academic offerings and aligning them with modern educational and industrial needs. Expressing satisfaction over the introduction of these programs, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir appreciated the support of Academic Council members. He emphasized that the approved programs would play a significant role in updating the university’s curriculum in line with contemporary industry requirements and academic advancements.

He added that these programs would equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills, better preparing them for emerging fields and diverse career opportunities. Key approvals from the meeting included, BSc Software Engineering under recommendations from the Board of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, BS Logistics and Supply Chain Management under the Faculty of Civil Engineering, BS Industrial Chemistry under the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities and Islamic Studies and BS Remote Sensing and GIS under the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Engineering.

The Academic Council also approved the establishment of a Center of Excellence at UET Lahore, which will offer short-term courses of six months’ duration to enhance professional skills and training. In addition, the Council approved revisions in various admission-related policies, including updates to the fee refund policy, merit criteria, admissions for international students, and the university’s scholarship policy. These decisions mark a significant step towards academic innovation and institutional advancement at UET Lahore.
