The UET Teaching Staff Association (TSA) has strongly condemned the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) decision to impose a 25% tax deduction on the salaries of teachers and researchers. In a crucial meeting chaired by TSA President Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, the Association demanded the immediate withdrawal of this notification. Members of TSA expressed concerns over the negative impact this decision will have on the academic staff and researchers.
Dr. Shoaib emphasized that if the notification is not revoked, TSA will resort to peaceful protests. TSA’s General Secretary, Dr. Tanveer Qasim, stated that the FBR’s move to end the tax exemption for teachers and researchers is both illegal and illogical. He further expressed that this decision will have serious financial repercussions, harming the economic interests of teachers and researchers.
The Association remains committed to safeguarding the legitimate rights of its members and will continue its struggle until the unjust tax deduction is reversed. The meeting was attended by Dr. Fahim Gohar Awan, Dr. Usman, Dr. Owais, Dr. Shumaila, Dr. Huda, Dr. Rizwana, and Dr. Rashid Jalil.
