BUITEMS, DoE (GoB), and BRSP-Led Delegation Visits CERAD–UET Lahore to Strengthen Renewable Energy Collaboration

A high-level delegation from the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), the Department of Energy, Government of Balochistan (GoB), and the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) visited the Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore – New Campus on September 8, 2025. The visit was organized under the Balochistan Centre for Excellence in Renewable Energy (BCRE) initiative, a flagship three-year project funded by the German Government through the PATRIP Foundation and KfW, which aims to promote sustainable and scalable energy solutions across Balochistan.
The delegation was received and welcomed by Dr.-Ing. Izzat Iqbal Cheema, Director of Postgraduate Studies at CERAD, who briefed the visitors on CERAD’s organizational structure and operational model. A detailed presentation on CERAD’s ongoing projects, technical capabilities, and infrastructure was then delivered by Mr. Imran Ali Shah (Principal Manager – CERAD) and Mr. Ali Hussain (Assistant Manager – CERAD). This was followed by a guided tour of CERAD’s advanced laboratories (PV Testing, LED Testing, AC Testing and Motor Testing), where the delegation explored technical systems and discussed opportunities for adopting best practices in Balochistan.
The visiting delegation comprised ten notable members, including Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez (VC, BUITEMS), Mr. Sahibzada Najeebullah (Addl. Secretary, DoE–GoB), Dr. Nazeer Ahmed (Dean & BCRE Focal Person, BUITEMS), Dr. Khalid and Dr. Waleed Raza (Deans, BUITEMS), Sardar Iftikhar Ahmed Khan (GM Programme, BRSP), Syed Naseebullah (Sr. Manager Admin & Logistics), Mr. Asghar Raisani (HoD Technical, BRSP), Mr. Muhammad Kamran (Asst. Manager Procurement & Logistics, BRSP), and Mr. Naseeb Agha (Manager PATRIP, BRSP).
Later, the delegation visited the main campus of UET Lahore, where they were hosted by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Imran Shahid, Campus Coordinator, UET Lahore (New Campus). During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir extended UET Lahore’s full support for the BCRE initiative and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sharing technical knowledge, research expertise, and institutional support to help establish a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence in Renewable Energy in Balochistan.
