Empowering Youth for Climate Action: UET Lahore & Transparency International Pakistan Organize Awareness Session

UET Lahore, in collaboration with Transparency International Pakistan, organized a guest speaker session under the Youth Climate Education & Fellowship Program on Friday, September 26, 2025.
🎤 Ms. Sabiha Shaheen, Executive Director of Bargad, delivered an inspiring talk on:
“Decision Making at Global Climate Forums and the Role of Youth in Driving Successful Policy Advocacy.”
She shared insights on global and regional platforms such as the Conference of the Parties (COP), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Youth NGO Constituency (YOUNGO), Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), and the Asian Conference of Universities on Sustainable Development Policy in Pakistan (ACUSPIK). Ms. Shaheen explained how these forums operate, the pathways for youth participation and membership, and encouraged fellows to engage actively. ✨ She also highlighted financial support opportunities that can help young people from Pakistan attend and contribute to these platforms.
📌 The session was organized by Dr. Izzat Cheema, focal person at UET Lahore for the program.
📌 Closing remarks were given by Prof. Dr. Mohsin Ali Kazmi, Chairman, Department of Chemical, Polymer & Composite Materials, UET Lahore (New Campus).
📌 A souvenir and honorarium were presented to Ms. Shaheen by Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Zaheer Aslam, Chairman, Department of Chemical Engineering, on behalf of Transparency International Pakistan.
