Engineering Universities Crucial for Pakistan’s Development: Dr. Shahid Munir, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal Emphasizes Skilled Youth at UET Narowal

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Mr. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the importance of skilled youth for a sustainable and peaceful future, stating that ensuring the security of the younger generation’s future is a top government priority. He noted that consistent policies are crucial for economic strength, and warned against the dangers of digital terrorism, which aims to sow division and despair among the Pakistani people. He made these remarks while addressing a welcome ceremony for new students at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Narowal campus.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir also spoke at the event. Ahsan Iqbal announced that UET Narowal is being upgraded to equip graduates with advanced skills, enabling them to better serve the nation. He stressed the need for Pakistan to align itself with global technological advancements, highlighting the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in technology.

“Without achieving the necessary progress in science and technology, we will be left far behind,” he added. The Federal Minister emphasized the critical role of engineering in Pakistan’s rapid development, noting that the future of the country is tied to its technological capabilities. He urged engineering students to play a vital role in increasing Pakistan’s exports. Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir remarked that UET is among the world’s leading engineering universities. He underscored the need for reforms in the engineering field, keeping in mind modern trends, and stressed the importance of equipping youth with both education and technical skills. He encouraged students to bring innovative ideas to meet the growing demands of the job market. The event was attended by Campus Coordinator Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, faculty members, and a large number of students.
