The 236th Meeting of the Academic Council of UET Lahore approves 14 new BS and PhD programs.

The 236th meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore was presided over by the Vice Chancellor UET Pro. Dr. Shahid Munir. The meeting was attended by deans of all faculties, the registrar, and heads of all academic and administrative departments. The council approved the launch of 14 new academic programs at the BS and PhD levels to expand the university’s academic offerings.

During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir expressed satisfaction over the addition of these programs and appreciated the support of the council members. He stated that these changes would play a significant role in aligning the university’s curriculum with current industrial demands and academic advancements. He added that the new programs would provide students with specialized knowledge and practical skills to better prepare them for various career opportunities and emerging fields. Among the newly approved programs were BS Islamic Studies in Computer Technology and BS English Language and Literature, proposed by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Islamic Studies.

The council also approved the establishment of the Department of Mathematics and the launch of the BS Mathematics program at the UET Faisalabad Campus. Furthermore, approvals were granted for PhD programs in Data Science, Environmental Science, and Physical Therapy. The meeting also approved BS programs in Business Data Analytics, Food Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Human Nutrition, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering. MSc programs in Climate Change, Material Science, and Chemical Engineering were also approved. Additionally, the council approved adjustments and increases in undergraduate admission seats for Spring 2025. A mechanism was also approved for admission into the four-year degree program for students who have completed a two-year associate degree from UET Lahore.
